        • Product Description:
        • A stainless steel 90 degree elbow is a short piece of pipe with a 90-degree angle and female threads on either end.
        • ● It is a right-angled pipe with internal threads on both ends, unlike a street elbow that has internal threads on one end and external threads on the other.
        • Used for:
        • A 90-degree elbow is used to change the direction of a pipe system by a right angle (90 degrees).
        • ● Widely used in plumbing and piping systems to connect pipes and male threaded fittings at a 90-degree angle.
        • Most commonly used to connect two pipes of the same diameter perpendicularly to one another, creating a right angle.
        • Advantage:
        • An elbow fitting has female threads, which makes it ideal for connecting two pipes.
        • ● When it changes the direction of a piping system, it does so with a smooth curve, which reduces turbulence and friction.
        • To Install:
        • ● Thread the female threaded ends onto a male threaded fitting or pipe of the same size.
        • Item Sizing:
        • A threaded elbow fitting's size is based on the size of the thread it will connect to.
        • For Example, A  1" elbow pipe fitting will have a 1" female thread and will install onto a 1" male thread.
        • Also referred to as:
        • 90 ell.
        • Ell Pipe.
        • Elbow 90.
        •  Elbow NPT.
        • ● Elbow Plumbing.
        • Elbow Connectors.
        • Other Options:
        • ● Other options include Street Elbows, which are also 90-degree pipe fittings, except they have male threads on one end.
        • ● Other options include 45 Elbows, which have a 45-degree angle.
        • ● Scroll down to "Related Products" for more options on 90 degree elbow fittings.
        • Materials of Construction:
        • These 90 degree pipe fittings are manufactured with Stainless Steel 304 & 316, making them strong and resistant to corrosion.

    What is a Pipe Elbow?

A pipe elbow, also called a 90 elbow, is a 90-degree pipe fitting used to add a right-angle change to the direction of a piping system. It is a short pipe bent at a 90-degree angle, with internal threads on either end of the elbow bend. It is used to join two male threaded fittings perpendicular to each other.

What is an Elbow Fitting used for?

Elbow fittings are widely used to join two pipe lengths perpendicular to each other, creating a right angle. Elbow fittings are widely used in piping systems where straight runs are not possible. They are used to enable the piping to turn corners and to avoid obstacles.

Where is a 90° Elbow used?

Threaded Elbows are one of the most common types of 90-degree fittings and are used in many applications, including residential, commercial, and industrial. They are widely used in piping systems, plumbing, HVAC, gas lines, water supply lines, and fluid transfer, wherever the pipe direction needs to be changed to accommodate the layout of the application. A 90 degree stainless steel elbow pipe is one of the most robust of the metal elbows and can be used in most applications.

    Types of Elbow Pipe Fitting?

Pipe elbows are available with different end connections, including threaded, welded, and slip-on ends. Threaded ends are typically NPT threads (National Pipe Threads), which is a tapered thread and forms a tight seal when installed correctly. Welded ends can be socket weld where the pipe is inserted into the elbows socket connection, or butt weld where the ends are joined with their surfaces aligned, with no overlap. Slip-on ends are like socket welds; however, they typically require an adhesive and are often used with PVC fittings. Elbows may also have different radii and can be made with a long radius, for a smoother flow, or a short radius, for a more compact design where space is tight.

Difference between Elbow and Bend in Piping?

An elbow is a standard fitting with an angle usually of 90 degrees and, less often, 45 degrees. A bend, on the other hand, is a custom-made and therefore the curve and be made to whatever is appropriate to the application; it is usually more gradual. The angle of an elbow is much sharper than the angle of a bend. Generally, elbows are more compact and take up less space than bends, making them more suitable in applications where space is tight. The sharper angles in an elbow can create more turbulence, whereas the smoother curve of a bend causes less turbulence and results in a lower pressure drop.
