1 Piece Reduced Port Ball Valves

1 Piece Reduced Port Ball Valves

A reduced port ball valve, also called a standard port ball valve, has a ball opening (or bore) that is smaller than the diameter of the pipe or the valve’s inlet and outlet connections. Since the internal diameter (ID) of the valve is smaller than the internal diameter of the pipe, this creates a slight restriction in flow through the valve. This slight restriction of the flow through the valve results in a decrease in flow rate as well as a pressure drop when compared to a full port ball valve where the diameter of the bore matches the diameter of the pipeline. They are typically used in applications where a full and unrestricted flow rate is not essential, but rather where a compact size and low cost are more important. They are commonly used in water, fuel and oil, gas and industrial systems where slight flow limitations and minor pressure drops are acceptable. The advantage of their simple construction and compact size make these valves more cost effective, lighter and more suitable for environments where space is constrained, making them the perfect choice for applications where flow rate is not essential.
