- Product Description:
- ● A stainless steel reducer bushing is a pipe fitting reducer with external threads and smaller internal threads on the inside.
- ● They resemble a threaded hex head plug with larger male (external) threads as well as smaller female (internal) threads in the center of the bushing.
- Used for:
- ● A threaded pipe bushing is used to connect a male and female thread of different sizes together.
- ● Bushing reducers are used to reduce the female thread size of a fitting.
- ● Conversely they can also be used to increase the male thread size.
- Advantage:
- ● When installed a hex bushing saves space when compared to a coupler reducer .
- ● It saves space because when installed it fits mostly into the female thread with only a small portion of the thread and the hex head exposed.
- To Install:
- ● Thread the external male thread into a female thread of the same size.
- ● Thread the internal female thread onto a male thread of the same size.
- Item Sizing:
- ● This hex bushing reducer is sized by stating the larger male thread and then the smaller female thread.
- ● For Example: A 3/4" x 1/2" bushing will have a 3/4" Male thread and a 1/2" female thread.
- Also referred to as:
- ● Pipe Bushing.
- Other Options:
- ● Other options include Coupler Reducers are also threaded reducers with female threads on both ends.
- ● Scroll down to "Related Products" for more options on pipe reducers.
- Materials of Construction:
- ● Manufactured with Stainless Steel 304 & 316
More Information:
Hex bushings, are threaded pipe reducers used change the thread size which allows them to connect fittings of different sizes or pipes of different diameters. They are shaped very much like a threaded hex plug with male threads on the external surface and a hole in the center lined with internal female threads. The hex head makes it easier for this threaded bushing to be tightened or removed with a socket or wrench. The male threads will screw into the larger female threaded fitting or pipe, and the smaller female threads will accept a pipe or smaller male threaded fitting. A hex reducing bushing is used to reduce a larger thread size to a smaller one, or to increase a smaller thread size to a larger one. The National Pipe thread (NPT) on these pipe reducing bushings are tapered which ensure a secure and tight fit when screwed together with the corresponding thread. Unlike reducing couplings these NPT bushings have male threads and female threads which allow them not only to join threads of different sizes, but also to join male and female threads together. Another advantage they have over reducer couplings is that they save space, since most of the stainless bushing threads inside the female thread it is connecting to. Constructed out of Stainless Steel 304 and 316 they are corrosion and rust resistant, resistant to many chemicals and have a long service life. Stainless steel Bushings are widely used in plumbing where they are used to connect pipes and to adapt threaded connections and piping connections to different sizes.
