- Description:
- A mini ball valve is a type of one piece ball valve that is small, compact and lightweight.
- It has two openings which function as end connections that are usually threaded.
- It has a manual flag handle to operate the 'open' or 'close' flow function.
- Uses:
- Miniature ball valves are used to control the flow of fluid or gas whenever a simple ‘on’ and ‘off’ mechanism is required.
- These small valves are used on smaller diameter pipes where a reduced flow is acceptable.
- Commonly be used whenever space is limited.
- Advantages:
- It has a compact body which saves space and is ideal for situations where space efficiency is essential.
- Since it is comprised of one body part, there are no body joints, therefore it has a low chance of leaking.
- Its simple design means it requires less maintenance can can open and close securely even after long periods inactivity.
- Pressure Rating:
- Rated at 1000 PSI WOG (Water, Oil, Gas).
- Port Size:
- These compact ball valves are designed with a reduced bore, also known as a standard port.
- This means that the internal diameter of the valve is one size smaller than the pipe size it is connected to.
- This reduced bore can lead to a restriction in the flow rate which can cause a slight pressure drop.
- Thread:
- These threaded small ball valves have two configurations:
- - Female Threads x Female Threads,
- - Male Threads x Male Threads.
- Construction:
- Made out of a one single piece of stainless Steel and therefore has no body joints.
- Maintenance:
- Generally a miniball valve does not require maintenance.
- Must be removed from the application to be disassembled, in order to be serviced.
- To expose the ball and seats the internal seat retainer end plug will have to be unthreaded.
- The end plug has a hexagonal opening that can accept a hex key or Allen wrench.
- Applications:
- Used in applications where a space is limited and where only a compact valve will fit.
- These micro ball valves are suitable for applications where a reduced flow is acceptable.
- Material:
- Manufactured out of quality grade 316 stainless steel.
More Information:
A mini ball valve is a small, compact, miniature valve designed for use in tight spaces where space constraints are a concern and where a standard sized valve may not fit. They are designed similar to regular ball valves but with a more compact and lightweight body. The body is often a hexagonal shaped slimline design with a butterfly-style handle or a flag handle. They also have a rotating ball mechanism just like larger ball valves and provide the same reliable shut-off and easy ‘on’ and ‘off’ operation. With a quarter turn handle quick ‘opening’ and ‘closing’ is possible. The flow is open when the handle is parallel to the valve body, and the flow is closed when the handle is perpendicular, They are most commonly used in small diameter applications ranging from 1/4 inch up to 1inch, which makes them ideal for precise flow control in low flow systems. They are designed to require minimal maintenance ,however they can be taken apart for servicing by unthreading the internal seat retainer end plug which has a hexagonal opening to make it easier to thread with a hex key or Allen wrench. Their compact design makes these stainless steel mini ball valves an efficient and cost-effective solution for low flow applications where precision and space efficiency are essential.
