- Product Description:
- ● A stainless steel close nipple is a short, all threaded piece of pipe with male threads on both ends.
- ● It is the shortest length pipe nipple available with little to no unthreaded area between the male threaded ends.
- Used for:
- ● Close nipples are used to connect two female threaded fittings, pipes and other components in close proximity to each other.
- ● In effect they can connect two fittings 'close' together with very little or no gap between them.
- Advantage:
- ● When threaded between two fittings there is little to no exposed part of the nipple.
- ● This minimal protrusion of the nipple makes them ideal for applications where space is limited or a compact "closed" connection is required.
- ● They are shorter than hex nipples which makes ideal for connections where minimal protrusion is needed.
- To Install:
- ● Thread the nipple by hand into a female threaded fitting of the same size.
- ● Then thread the other end of the nipple into the second fitting and tighten with a pipe wrench. (Do not to tighten the nipple directly)
- ● Use the appropriate thread sealant, like Teflon tape, to ensure a tight seal.
- Item Sizing:
- ● A close pipe nipple size is based on the size of the thread they will connect to.
- ● For Example: A 3/4" close nipple pipe fitting will have a 3/4" male thread and install into a 3/4" female thread.
- Also referred to as:
- ● All thread Nipple.
- Other Options:
- ● Other options include Hex Nipples which are also threaded nipples except they have a hex head between the male threads.
- ● Other options include Pipe Nipples which have a unthreaded section of pipe between the male threads.
- ● Scroll down to "Related Products" for more options on threaded nipple fittings.
- Materials of Construction:
- ● Manufactured with Stainless Steel 304 & 316
More Information:
A close nipple fitting is a type of short piece of pipe used to connect two female threaded fittings or pipes together with minimal space between them. The two threaded ends are so close together that there is little or no unthreaded space between the ends, enabling a very close compact connection. Essentially it is a short length of pipe that is fully threaded with little to no unthreaded section in between the two threaded ends. It is called "close" because it is designed to connect two female threaded components very ‘close’ together with little or no of the nipple exposed between the connection. The all threaded design enables a very close, compact connection making them ideal for applications where space is limited where a longer nipple would not fit. Proper installation is important as a wrench can damage the threads. To install thread the nipple into the first fitting by hand, and then thread it into the second fitting. Then use a pipe wrench on the fittings to tight the connection, do not use the wrench directly on the close nipple threads. Use thread sealant to ensure a water tight connection. The threads of this plumbing nipple are national pipe thread (NPT), which are tapered and provide a secure and leak proof connection when installed correctly. These stainless steel nipples are manufactured out of stainless steel making them durable and corrosion resistant. These nipple fittings are widely used in plumbing piping systems, commercial and industrial application.
