- Product Description:
- ● A stainless steel Tee is a T-shaped connector with three connection ends.
- ● The defining characteristic is its T-shape, with one inlet and two outlets at right angles to each other.
- ● It has three openings: one inlet and two outlets, or the other way around, with internal threads on all three ends.
- Used for:
- ● A tee fitting can be used to combine or split the flow in a pipe system.
- ●They can combine or merge two flows into one outlet or split one flow into two outlets.
- ● They can be used for branching, which is a process of creating an inlet or outlet from a main pipe, allowing flow into or out of the main system.
- ● Most commonly used to connect three pipes of the same diameter perpendicularly to one another, at right angles.
- Advantage:
- ● The primary advantage of a T fitting is that it can be used to mix or divide the flow in a pipe.
- ● It can divide a single inlet pipe into two outlet pipes or merge two inlet pipes into one outlet pipe.
- ● It allows for the redirection of flow by creating multiple pathways from a single junction.
- To Install:
- ● Thread each of the three female threaded ends onto male threaded fittings or pipes of the same size.
- Item Sizing:
- ● A Tee fitting's size is based on the size of the thread it will connect to.
- ● For Example, A 1" pipe tee fitting will have a 1" female threads and will install onto a 1" male threads.
- Also referred to as:
- ● T Pipe.
- ● Plumbing Tee.
- ● Threaded Tee.
- ● Pipe T Connector.
- Other Options:
- ● Another option is an Elbow, which is a 90-degree pipe fitting with female threads on both connection ends.
- ● Other options include Street Elbows, which are also 90-degree pipe fittings, except they have male threads on one end.
- ● Other options include 45 Elbows, which have a 45-degree angle.
- ● Scroll down to "Related Products" for more options on threaded pipe connectors.
- Materials of Construction:
- ● These T-shaped pipe fittings are manufactured with Stainless Steel 304 & 316, making them strong, robust, and corrosion resistant.
What is a Tee Fitting?
A tee fitting, also called a pipe tee, is a pipe fitting used to connect 3 fittings with male threads together at right angles. It is shaped like a “T”, with female threads on each of the three ends. It is often used to join three pipes perpendicular to each other at right angles. Pipe Tees are essentially a small piece of pipe with an extra port in the center at 90 degrees, forming a shape of the letter "T".
What is a Tee Fitting used for?
Tee fittings are widely used in plumbing to branch the piping system. Branching is a process of creating an outlet or an inlet from a main pipeline, which allows flow out of or into the main line. This enables one continuous pipeline to branch into a second pipeline. A pipe tee has three openings or ports, either one inlet and two outlets, or two inlets and one outlet, depending on whether it’s being used to divide (Split) or combine (Mix) the flow. They can divide the flow from one pipe into two outlets or combine and mix the flow from two pipes into one outlet.
Where are Pipe Tees used?
Threaded Tee fittings are used in many residential, commercial, and industrial applications. They are widely used in piping systems, including in plumbing, HVAC, water distribution, and fluid transfer, where they are used to divide or combine pipelines. A stainless steel tee is one of the most robust of the metal t-fittings and can be used in most applications.
Types of Tee Pipe Fittings?
Pipe tee fittings are classified by their design and their connection methods. These different types include an Equal Tee (Straight through Tee), a Reducing Tee, a Lateral Tee (WYE-Tee) and a Sanitary Tee. A Sanitary Tee could be made in the Equal, Reducing, or lateral configuration. Pipe tees are also available with different end connections, including threaded and welded ends. Threaded ends are usually National Pipe Threads (NPT threads) in the U.SA. NPT thread is tapered and forms a leak-proof seal when correctly installed. Welded ends can be socket weld where the pipe is inserted into the tee’s socket connection, or butt weld where the ends are joined flush with, with no overlap.
