    • Product Description:
    • A stainless steel threaded coupling is a type of pipe coupling with female threads on both ends.
    • ● It is essentially a short piece of pipe with a machined exterior and internal threads on either end.
    • Used for:
    • ● A threaded pipe coupler is used to connect two male threaded fittings, pipes, or other components.
    • Most commonly used to connect two pipes in a straight line.
    • Advantage:
    • This cylindrical pipe fitting has been machined to create a smooth and uniform exterior finish.
    • The major advantage over a cast coupling is that it has a smooth finish and a smaller outer diameter (OD).
    • This results in the wall thickness varying less, resulting in more uniformity than the cast versions.
    • To Install:
    • ● Thread one of the internal female threads onto a male thread of the same size using Teflon tape or pipe threaded compound as needed.
    • Then thread the other end in the same way.
    • Lastly, tighten the connection using a wrench or similar tool.
    • Item Sizing:
    • A threaded coupling size is based on the size of the thread it will connect to
    • For Example, A  1" coupling fitting will have a 1" female thread and install into a 1" male thread.
    • Also referred to as:
    • ● Full Couplers.
    • NPT Couplers.
    • Metal Couplings.
    • Merchant Coupler.
    • Plumbing Coupling.
    • Other Options:
    • ● Other options include Bell Reducers, which are also pipe connectors, except they have different-sized threads on either end.
    • ● Other options include Pipe Unions, which have a rotating hex head between the female threads.
    • ● Scroll down to "Related Products" for more options on threaded pipe connector fittings.
    • Materials of Construction:
    • These threaded connectors are manufactured with Stainless Steel 304 & 316.

    What is a Pipe Coupling?

A pipe coupling, also known as a coupler, is a short length of pipe or tube with female threads or a socket at one or both ends. There are various types of couplings, including full, half, reducing, and slip. They are manufactured out of a variety of materials, including steel, copper, and plastics. They are often manufactured out of some type of metal, and are usually threaded, except for slip couplings, which are welded on. They are generally used to connect two pipes in a straight line; however, if they are threaded, they can also join two male threaded fittings or components together.

    What is a Threaded Coupling?

A Threaded coupling is a short pipe coupling used to connect two male threaded fittings or pipes. Essentially, it is a short length of pipe with internal female threads on both ends and the external surface machined to a smooth and uniform finish. They are often used to join two pipes of the same diameter together in a straight line. This threaded connector has National Pipe Threads (NPT threads), which are tapered threads that ensure a secure, leak-proof connection when properly installed. These stainless steel pipe couplings are constructed out of stainless steel, which makes them durable and corrosion-resistant. These NPT coupling fittings are widely used in plumbing, gas, and industrial piping systems.

    What is a Merchant Coupling?

A merchant pipe coupling is typically made from steel piping or tubing. The pipe or tube is cut to the appropriate length and then machined to create the internal threads. Being manufactured out of tubing is the reason why merchant couplings have a smooth, uniform exterior with no seams. This lack of seams indicates that they are not cast. When made out of stainless steel tubing, the finish is smooth and shiny.
