    • It is shaped like a disc with four bolt holes placed around the female threads.
    • Used for:
    • Used to connect pipes and male threaded fittings in a very secure manner.
    • They provide a standardized connection that allows for interchangeability between various components.
    • They are used on small thread sizes, usually 3" and below.
    • Advantage:
    • They require no welding.
    • They provide a very secure connection.
    • They are easy to install and disassemble.
    • To Install:
    • Thread the female threaded portion of the flange onto a pipe or the male threaded component.
    • ● Place a gasket between two flanges, and bring the raised faces together.
    • Align the bolt holes and fasten together with 4 bolts and nuts.
    • Item Sizing:
    •  A threaded flange size is based on the size of the male thread it will thread onto.
    • For Example, A  1" flange fitting will have a 1" female thread and will thread onto a 1" male thread.
    • Also referred to as:
    • ● NPT Flange.
    •  Ansi 150 # Flange.
    • Raised Face Flange.

    What is a Pipe Flange?

A Pipe Flange is a disc-shaped fitting used to create a secure connection joint for connecting pipes and other components. It ensures a secure connection that is extremely sturdy and leak-resistant. They provide easy installation and can be taken apart for maintenance. Two flanges are connected to each other with nuts and bolts, with a gasket placed between them. Components will not have to be rotated and screwed on and off the application, but can easily be removed by removing the nuts and bolts without disturbing the pipeline. A threaded pipe flange is a type of flange that connects to pipes or male threaded components by screwing onto the external threads, as opposed to welding. It has a cut-out in the center with female threads, which threads onto male threaded components without the need to weld.

    Where is a Flange Used?

They are used in low-pressure applications, including oil and gas, petrochemical, water, plumbing, and industrial systems. They provide an extremely strong and durable connection and are widely used in applications where construction strength and durability are of utmost importance. They are easy to install and remove, which also makes them ideal for maintenance and repairs. They are standardized, which makes them interchangeable with other flanges of the same type and size. Threaded flanges don’t require any welding, which makes them ideal for applications where it is not possible to weld, like in flammable environments.

    Types of Pipe Flanges:

Pipe flanges are mechanical joints that are used for long-term and permanent installations. The main pipe flanges types include Threaded Flanges, which have internal threads in the center;  Socket-Weld Flanges, which fit over the pipe end and are then welded; Weld Neck Flanges, which are butt welded flush onto the pipe; Lap Joint Flange, also known as loose flanges designed for easy assembly; Slip On Flange, similar to socket weld in that they slide over the piping but are welded both inside and outside, and Blind Flanges, which are solid plates used to cap and seal off an opening.
