• A three piece socket weld ball valve is a type of valve constructed with socket weld connection ends.
• It has two openings, a socket weld inlet and outlet which function as end connections to weld directly on to a pipeline.

• Installation:
• This welded valve an be easily welded onto a pipe.
• It has a socket end connection which is a recessed area that receives the pipe it is to be welded onto.
• Construction:
• This valve is made out of three separate body parts that are connected together by 4 pairs of bolts and nuts.
• Maintenance:
• Generally under normal conditions they don’t require much maintenance.
• By loosening and removing the 4 bolts on the side of the valve, the main valve body can be removed while leaving the welded connection ends installed.
• This exposes the ball, seals and stem for cleaning and replacement.
• Application:
• Commonly used where a high level of resistance to corrosion is required, including industrial marine applications, chemical processing, and food & beverage among others.
• Suitable for viscous fluids, slurries, and suspension solutions with solid particles, where the internal diameter (ID) needs to remain the constant.
• Ideal for applications where efficient flow is required, that is a full flow rate with a minimum pressure drop.
• Cost:
• They should be the same price as threaded three piece valves since there is no extra cost required to convert a 3 piece valve into a socket weld.
• In fact a socket weld valve is made by not tapping threads into a regular ball valve.

A socket weld ball valve is a type of ball valve manufactured with socket weld end connections, which allow the valve to be welded directly onto the pipe.
